Steve graduated from Yale College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1964. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School with a L.L.B. degree in 1967, and he received a Masters of Science in Taxation degree from the University of New Haven in 1985. He was admitted as a member of the Connecticut Bar in 1967 and also is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut, and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
Before entering private practice, Steve worked for the New Haven Legal Assistance Association, providing legal services to New Haven residents unable to afford the services of a private attorney. In private practice, Steve has remained committed to providing legal services for individuals unable to afford private representation. In 1995 and 1997 he was recognized by the Connecticut Bar Association with a Certificate of Commendation for his pro bono activities.
Steve is a member of the New Haven County Bar Association, the Connecticut Bar Association, the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Elder Law Section of the Connecticut Bar Association. He has lectured extensively on topics that include wills, living wills, durable power of attorney instruments, and Medicaid eligibility and planning strategies.
For many years, Steve was an adjunct instructor at the University of New Haven where he taught courses in business law and evidence. His experience in judicial proceedings has been recognized by the Judicial Department which has appointed him as an Attorney Trial Referee and as a Fact Finder/Arbitrator. As an Attorney Trial Referee and Fact Finder/Arbitrator, Steve hears cases presented by other attorneys, and makes written decisions concerning those cases.
In his leisure time, Steve and his wife of 52 years, Susan, enjoy reading, cooking, classical music, theatre, aerobic exercising, and doing a variety of silly things with their six grandchildren.
